About this painting: "A piece of cake" came to exist one day when I was given a slice of this lovely, decadent cake. Not wanting to waste the sweet gift, I painted swiftly, focusing on making the cake look like an actual piece of cake rather than a shapeless pink and brown glob. The purple smoky glass plate belonged to my great-grandmother, and I only have three of them left.
